1.About Ultimate Download Manager

          Ultimate Download Manager is a tool that helps the everyday user to manage their downloads more efficiently. When you are trying to download a big file then suddenly the network breaks down only to find out that,when the network comes back online,you have to start all over again.

        Using Ultimate Download Manager such problems will not exist anymore.

2.Features

          Ultimate Download Manager is formed of a simple to use interface as shown in figure 1.

As you can see … the main window is formed of a list that will hold download tasks and the base of the form that displays additional information about the current selected task from the list.

Information which is provided to the user consist of:

Ø  The download location

Ø  The overall progress

Ø  Elapsed time since file downloaded

Ø  Estimated time till download finishes

Ø  Speed of the current download[in KB/s]

Another feature displays the shell icons in the download list:

 

Here you see the small icons near the download filename. In this image you are seeing 2 downloads and the stats for the selected item, at the bottom of the window. 

The Download list contains 4 columns:

FileName      - The file currently viewed.

Progress       - Download progress for each file.

Status           - Download status: Stopped,Downloading or Finished.

Priority         - The download priority.

 

You can change the download priority by clicking on the download file with the  right-mouse button.

There are 4 download priorities:

Low            - consumes less than 25% of your download bandwidth.

Normal        -consumes 50% of your download bandwidth.

High            -consumes 75% of your download bandwidth.

Highest       -consumes 100% of your download bandwidth.

 

To start or stop/pause the download file you can simply duble-click on the filename from the list or right-click and select stop or start download.

 

To add a new download select Add Download from the file menu.

...after you select the Add Download option the Add New download dialog will be displayed.

...here you can add a new download to the list. All you need is the URL address, you can also change the download location or leave it to default.

After setting the download location…you can also change the download priority option which is set to normal by default.

after pressing the “Download” button,you will see that a new download item will be added in the download list.

There is another way to download the file, directly through the Internet Explorer,which will be explained later in this chapter.

 

The Settings option.

 

After you select the settings option from file menu, the settings dialog will be displayed.

Here you can change 4 things:

Ø  Default Download Location – The download location selected by default when you add a new download.

Ø  Default Temp Directory      - A folder where the temporary downloaded tasks will be stored until the downloads will finish. After this they will be moved to the selected download location.

Ø  Integrate to IE option         - This option will be described later in this chapter.

Ø  Language preferences        - let’s the user choose the preffered user interface language.

TheIntegrate to Microsoft Internet Explorer” option.

    This option integrates the Ultimate Download Manager into Microsoft Internet Explorer context menu and in the Tools menu.

    If you right-click on a download link in Internet Explorer and you select Download with Ultimate Download Manager the download will be automatically added to Ultimate Download Manager downloads list.

    If you click on the Tools menu Ultimate Download Manager, it will start the Ultimate Download Manager application.

 

    Another feature of Ultimate Download Manager is the taskbar icon.

    Double click on the taskbar icon to display the download list or right-click then select Show Ultimate Download Manager.

 

    The taskbar icon also displays download notifications.

Q:How to add a download?

A:Goto File>>Add download… and fill the form

 

Q:How to exit?

A:File>>Exit

 

Q:How to remove a task?

A:Right click on it in the list and select Remove

 

Q:How many simultaneous downloads may I run?

A: five.

 

Q:How the download list is stored?

A:Each download file has a unique file located in the Temp folder near to the application.

Warning:Do not modify these files or you’ll loose the downloaded files.

 

Q:Can I start more instances of the program on the same computer?

A:No.Only one instance is allowed.
